What is a Pump Skid?
A pump skid includes a pump and a driver such as an electric motor or diesel engine mounted on a common steel base.
Nearly all pumping units are sold as pump skids. Pump skids include the pump and motor (or engine) coupled together and mounted on a steel baseplate. In most cases, the pump skid is assembled by the pump manufacturer. However, some enterprising pump suppliers may purchase just the pump from the manufacturer, procure a suitable motor separately, design and build the baseplate themselves, and assemble the skid at their own facility prior to shipping the assembled pump skid on to the purchaser.
